Celine Dion’s tragic story has taken an unexpected turn since she was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome.
Dion has been unable to return to the spotlight due to her incurable neurological disease. Despite her initial cancellation of her global tour dates in May 2023, her sister reported no medication was effective. However, Dion made an unexpected appearance at a Las Vegas hockey game in November.
Dion attended a ceremony with her three sons, appearing stunning. However, recent rumors suggest she wants to return to stage and perform songs to address vocal cord problems, according to Radar Online.
According to the article, the 55-year-old is so eager to play for her fans again that she would sing while confined to a wheelchair if it meant returning to the stage.
Though her older sister Claudette said that Dion’s prognosis is not good, she is receiving intensive therapy from doctors and physical therapists.
“She doesn’t have control over her muscles — and vocal cords are muscles,” Claudette told the National Enquirer last year.
“It’s true that getting back on stage is the ultimate aim of both our dreams and hers. For what purpose? “I am unsure,” she continued.
Reportedly, a wheelchair becomes an inevitable means of transportation for many people with stiff person syndrome. The prospect doesn’t concern Dion too much, according to an insider who spoke with Radar Online; but, she is terribly struggling with the loss of her iconic voice.
An insider told us that Celine would be happy to do nothing more than sit back and sing for her fans. However, her voice is simply not recovering to a point where she can perform or record again.
Her voice is affected by spasms. She can sing reasonably well, like Celine, for a few notes before a spasm utterly distorts her voice.
“Surgery or therapy won’t be able to fix it, unfortunately.”
As Celine Dion and her family go through this tough time, our thoughts and prayers are with them.
