The settlement took longer than it should have, but not as long as Cedar Ridge hoped.
In the end, the HOA agreed to pay for the tree loss, land damage, legal fees, and a full restoration plan designed by an independent arborist.
They also had to negotiate a paid easement for the road.
Not free.
Not assumed.
Paid.
Recorded.
Legal.
With terms that protected my land, limited expansion, and required maintenance costs from the HOA.
And Preston?
Dana insisted on a written apology from the board.
It was stiff, bloodless, and clearly written by lawyers.
But it contained the words that mattered:
Cedar Ridge Estates HOA acknowledges that the trees removed were located on private property owned by Eli Hale, and that removal occurred without authorization.
I read that sentence three times.
It did not bring my father’s trees back.
