Chapter 12: The Gate
Dana filed the notice first.
Formal. Clean. Impossible to misunderstand.
Cedar Ridge Estates HOA was to cease unauthorized use of the portion of road crossing my land until legal access was resolved.
Emergency services were notified separately and given temporary access instructions.
That part mattered.
I was angry, not reckless.
The next morning, a licensed crew installed a temporary locked farm gate at the edge of my property line, exactly where Dana said it could go.
Not across the county road.
Not on anyone else’s land.
On mine.
By noon, Cedar Ridge had a line of luxury SUVs backed up below the ridge.
Residents stood outside their cars in tennis clothes and office suits, staring at the gate like it had personally insulted them.
Mara sent me a photo.
Under it, she wrote:
