Austin Gilbert Joins Team Reba After Show-Stopping ‘Honeybee’ Battle on The Voice
It was an unforgettable night on The Voice (October 13), as Austin Gilbert found a new home on Team Reba McEntire following an emotional and high-energy Battle Round performance.
A Country Showdown on Team Bublé
Gilbert and fellow Team Bublé artist Rob Cole faced off with a lively duet of Blake Shelton’s country hit “Honeybee.” Their chemistry and charisma instantly won over the audience — and even had Snoop Dogg joking, “I felt the spirit of Blake Shelton while y’all were singing that.”
Niall Horan praised both singers but said he’d pick Cole for his “clear as day” vocals, while McEntire leaned the other way, saying Gilbert’s tone and heart stood out most.
Bublé ultimately chose Rob Cole as the winner, explaining, “Rob is my country superstar.”
Reba Fulfills Her Promise
Just as Gilbert began to walk off stage after thanking Bublé for the opportunity, Reba slammed her steal button, leaving the crowd roaring — and Gilbert dropping to the floor in disbelief.
During his Blind Audition weeks earlier, McEntire had told him, “Let them fight over you, and I’ll steal you later.” She stayed true to her word.
“You’re enthusiastic, you’ve got a big heart, a gorgeous voice — and you’re a cowboy,” McEntire said, welcoming him to her team. “I’m so thrilled you’re part of Team Reba.”
Gilbert, visibly emotional, replied, “Thank you so much for making my dreams come true. I’m going to make you proud, ma’am.”
A Perfect Fit for Team Reba
After the show, McEntire told the cameras why she wanted to bring Austin aboard:
“I love everything about Austin. He’s got that childlike enthusiasm, that spark. I just loved his voice, and I think he’s really going to do well for my team.”
With his heartfelt voice and undeniable stage presence, Austin Gilbert’s journey on The Voice is just getting started — and now, under Reba McEntire’s mentorship, fans are eager to see how far this cowboy can go.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
