Zach Top turned a fan’s gender reveal into a moment no one at the West Virginia State Fair will forget.
During his performance, the country singer paused the show after fans Kelsey and Dalton Longbon asked him to announce the gender of their first child. Top grabbed the folded slip from the couple — but accidentally flashed the words “It’s a girl” to the entire crowd before even opening it.
@kelsayyy7 The coolest thing ever! Even got to meet him backstage after! Thanks @Zach Top @State Fair of WV #zachtop #genderreveal #countrymusic ♬ original sound – Kelsey
Realizing his mistake, he laughed it off, telling the audience, “I messed that up,” before officially sharing, “If you didn’t see it, it’s a girl. Congratulations Kelsey and Dalton, you’re having a baby girl.”
The lighthearted slip only made the reveal more memorable. Top signed the announcement slip, apologized for “botching it a little bit,” and later invited the couple backstage for photos. For Kelsey and Dalton — who married last October and danced to Top’s “There’s the Sun” at their wedding — having him reveal their first baby’s gender was a dream come true.
Kelsey shared, “When we found out the gender of our first baby recently, I thought who better to announce it than Zach Top himself – how many people can say the artist of their first dance song announced the gender of their first born.”
The night also came during a busy stretch for Top, who’s currently on his Cold Beer & Country Music Tour and gearing up to release his sophomore album Ain’t In It For My Health on August 29, featuring new tracks like “South Of Sanity” and “Good Times & Tan Lines.”
