Yesterday evening, a tragic event occurred over the city of Washington, District of Columbia, when a regional flight operated by American Airlines and a helicopter operated by the United States Army collided in midair, causing both aircraft to crash into the freezing waters of the Potomac River.

Hamad Raza, whose wife was a passenger on Flight 5342, is one of the grieving loved ones who have been left behind following the tragic event. She sent him a text message just a few moments before the collision, which would turn out to be her final one.

In reference to the most recent time he communicated with her, he stated, “She texted me that they were landing in twenty minutes,” while displaying the messages to the camera.

“The rest of my texts did not get delivered, that’s when I realized something might be up,” Raza further stated.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports that the disaster took place at roughly nine o’clock at night local time, while the aircraft was getting closer and closer to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

On its journey from Wichita, Kansas (ICT) to Washington, District of Columbia, the American Airlines CRJ-700 jet, which was operated by PSA Airlines, was carrying a total of sixty passengers and four crew members.
