Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that stretched far beyond country music. She became one of the most recognizable singers and songwriters in the world, but she also devoted enormous energy to literacy, philanthropy and helping children.
Yet despite being surrounded by a large family and spending much of her life supporting young people, Parton never had children of her own.
Following her death, her nephew Bryan Seaver shared an emotional message through her Instagram account, explaining that Parton had asked him years earlier to make the announcement when the time came.
“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.”
He described the responsibility as both an honor and a source of profound sadness.
