Dolly Parton Teases — Then Delivers — A Powerful New Collaboration
On Monday, January 12, Dolly Parton sparked curiosity across social media with a simple but intriguing message: “Something new is on the horizon.” As expected, fans didn’t have to wait long for answers.
The following day, Parton revealed the surprise — a newly re-recorded version of her beloved song Light of a Clear Blue Morning, this time joined by four standout women in music: Lainey Wilson, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah, and Reba McEntire.
Parton also shared that all proceeds from the new recording — along with its accompanying music video — will benefit pediatric cancer research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
In a separate video message, Parton explained the heart behind the song. She said she originally wrote “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” during a low moment in her life, when she was searching for hope and reassurance. This time around, she invited four women she described as “real shining lights” to help bring the message to life.
While Queen Latifah may seem like an unexpected addition, the pairing has history. The two starred together in the 2012 film Joyful Noise and have remained close friends ever since.
A New Music Video Arrives at Midnight
At midnight Eastern, Parton didn’t just release the song — she unveiled an accompanying music video as well.
The video shows all five performers recording their parts in individual studio booths, highlighting each voice before they unite. Despite the number of powerhouse vocalists involved, the blend is seamless. When the chorus hits, the result is nothing short of goosebumps. The production is further elevated by a 12-member choir and legendary producer David Foster, who appears on piano.
It’s a moving reminder of the song’s enduring message — hope after hardship — now amplified by five voices, one purpose, and a cause that truly matters.
