Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean Amaze Audiences as Farewell Tour Begins

Skating legends and Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean officially launched their long-awaited farewell tour, stunning fans with a powerful opening performance at London’s Wembley Arena on Saturday.

Marking 50 years of skating together, the tour—Torvill and Dean: Our Last Dance—is set to be their final time performing on the ice as a duo. Jayne, 67, looked radiant in a flowing purple ombre costume, while Christopher complemented her with a sleek purple silk shirt and tailored trousers.

The evening opened with an all-new routine set to The Greatest Showman, followed by a series of dazzling performances and costume changes that had the crowd in awe. As they revisited iconic moments from their Olympic career and beyond, the audience responded with cheers, praise, and multiple standing ovations.

Torvill and Dean’s partnership began in 1975, leading to decades of international acclaim. Saturday’s performance reminded fans of their magic on the ice and left many emotional. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) posted: “Saw the most fantastic show ever by Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean today: ‘Our Last Dance’… two standing ovations (and some tears) at the end. Brilliant.”

The farewell tour continues through May 11, with upcoming stops in Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and more. Ahead of the final show, Chris shared why now felt right to step away from performing: “We’re not spring chickens anymore,” he said with a smile, explaining their desire to retire while still able to skate at a high level.

Their emotional journey is also being captured for an upcoming ITV documentary titled Torvill & Dean: The Last Dance. The special will offer a behind-the-scenes look at their final tour, reflect on their five-decade-long partnership, and give fans a heartfelt glimpse into their preparation, legacy, and final performances.

Torvill and Dean, who have been beloved staples of Dancing on Ice since its 2009 launch, will also bid farewell to the series, which ITV recently announced would not return due to declining viewership.

Reflecting on their final chapter, the duo shared with the Mirror: “We’re thrilled our farewell tour will be the focus of an ITV documentary… filled with both emotional and joyful moments as we say goodbye. It’s only fitting it airs on ITV, our television home for the past 20 years. We hope fans enjoy this last chance to see us skate together.”

Their legacy as Britain’s most iconic ice dancers continues to inspire—and Our Last Dance ensures they exit the stage in unforgettable style.
