Kacey Musgraves Shines in Dolly Parton Tribute at the 50th CMA Awards
The 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards has come and gone, leaving behind unforgettable performances from country music’s biggest stars. One of the most captivating moments of the night was Kacey Musgraves’ stunning tribute to Dolly Parton, who was honored with the prestigious Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
As part of the tribute, Musgraves enchanted the audience with her rendition of Parton’s classic “Here You Come Again.” Following Reba McEntire’s performance of Parton’s iconic “9 to 5,” Musgraves took center stage, bringing her own sparkle and charm to the beloved song.
Her performance was so mesmerizing that it left Parton, who was seated in the audience, visibly emotional. The moment was made even more poignant when Musgraves was joined by McEntire, Jennifer Nettles, Carrie Underwood, and Martina McBride for a heartfelt rendition of Parton’s timeless hit “I Will Always Love You.”
The Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award has been previously given to music legends like Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash, and of course, Willie Nelson himself. But does receiving the honor mean the end of new music from Dolly Parton? Not at all.
In response to the award, Parton humorously said, “I hope they don’t think because they gave me a lifetime achievement award they thought I was done. No way that’s gonna happen.”
