The Controversy Between Morgan Wallen and SNL
Country music sensation Morgan Wallen made his second appearance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL) on March 29, 2025, during the show’s 50th season. Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison hosted the episode, which included Wallen performing “I’m The Problem” and “Just In Case,” both tracks from his upcoming album.
However, the controversy surrounding Wallen’s appearance emerged at the end of the show. Traditionally, the host, cast, and musical guests gather on stage to celebrate as the end credits roll. But after Madison wrapped up the episode, Wallen gave her a quick hug and promptly walked off the stage, leaving fans puzzled.

Some speculated that this was merely a misunderstanding, assuming Wallen exited the stage in the same manner as he had during rehearsals. However, others were upset, calling his departure disrespectful to the cast and crew.
Neither Wallen nor SNL have publicly commented on the incident. But shortly after the show, Wallen posted an Instagram story that read, “Get me to God’s country,” which some fans interpreted as a cryptic remark in response to the situation.
Joe Jonas Reportedly Replaced Morgan Wallen for SNL Sketch
In addition to the stage departure, Wallen also reportedly turned down an opportunity to appear in a pre-recorded sketch titled “Big Dumb Line,” which aired during the same episode of SNL. The skit humorously parodies New Yorkers’ habit of waiting in long lines for trendy food items like pizza and croissants.
According to reports from Page Six and PEOPLE, Wallen was initially offered a cameo in the sketch but declined, with Joe Jonas stepping in to take his place. The reason for Wallen’s refusal is not known.
Wallen had previously participated in a sketch during his first appearance on SNL in 2020, which poked fun at his own actions when he violated COVID-19 protocols and partied in Alabama.
