Some country music fans are still holding on to the hope that Riley Green and Ella Langley will eventually end up together, and who can blame them? Watching them perform together sparks our imaginations, making us think they could be a couple.
The “You Look Like You Love Me” singers are back on stage together, with Ella Langley joining Riley Green as his direct support for his Damn Country Music Tour. After a few shows, fans are loving seeing the duo perform again, but many still aren’t entirely convinced there’s nothing more going on behind the scenes.
Despite both Riley and Ella repeatedly saying they’re just friends, fans are holding on to their romantic fantasies. During the second night of the tour, Riley Green charmed the crowd when he helped Ella Langley down the steps as they began their performance of “You Look Like You Love Me.” Fans in Kelowna, BC, quickly took to social media to share the sweet moment, calling out how chivalry is alive and well.
As the song’s intro played, Ella Langley appeared at the top of the stage risers, with Riley Green making his way to meet her. After she sang the first few lines, she grabbed his hand, and he helped guide her down the steps. When they reached the first break in the steps, Riley extended his arm to her once again as she took his hand and gracefully descended to center stage, all while singing their CMA Award-winning duet.
But let’s not forget to give Riley some credit here, even if we’re hoping for a romantic connection.
Riley Green is a true Southern gentleman, raised well by his momma. He’d probably do this for any woman he shared the stage with—he doesn’t want Langley to trip and fall.
But since fans are deep into wishing these two are secretly in love, they couldn’t help but gush over their chemistry.
“Riley pointing to himself saying me 😂.”
“How he holds her hand down the steps 🥹 They are both so unbelievable 😍”
“Their children would be out of this world gorgeous 😩”
“I want them together so bad.”
“I literally would fall in love with them both with that look they gave each other. I don’t care if it’s only for show purposes, they are together in my mind 🥰🤣”
“It’s giving good ‘bed chem!’”
Sadly for fans, Riley Green has addressed the idea of a real-life romance between him and Ella. During an interview with Nick Viall, he jokingly said Langley is “too smart” to date him but also mentioned how they play into their on-stage chemistry to fuel fans’ fantasies.
It’s actually a clever marketing strategy, and as Riley pointed out in the interview, this kind of thing has worked for stars like Tammy Wynette and George Jones in the past.
“Yeah, I mean, Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway. But I think that’s kind of the country music fan, like, they love the Tim McGraw and Faith, and the George and Tammy. And when we first started having the success we did with that song, I kinda told Ella, I was like, ‘There’s gonna be a lot of things said, but I mean, you don’t really have to play into it or not play into it, it’s gonna be something people enjoy the same way we do when we go listen to those songs.’
It’s cool to have that one and have that moment on stage with her every night. The title track to my album is called ‘Don’t Mind If I Do,’ and that’s a really big song, so it’s cool to have that one with her, and that’s a completely different type of song.”
Whether they’re together or not, fans will keep swooning over their onstage moments. With plenty of the tour still to go, there will be many chances to witness these special moments live.
