Most moms believe that pregnancy and labor are scary and that all you want is a healthy, kicking baby.
However, one mother experienced the unthinkable when her newborn son was born on a ventilator.
Lisa Hough posted a photo of her daughter Chelsea’s lovely infant grandchild and her daughter’s unimaginable decision.
The mother of three and grandmother of two stated her grandson Karson was born with several medical issues.

Nana Lisa wrote on Facebook, “The only way to describe what has happened is that this beautiful baby boy has suffered two very rare traumatic conditions that are completely unrelated.”
She said her newborn grandson had a “hemorrhage in the left temporal lobe” and Non-ketotic hyperglycinemia, a rare inherited metabolic disease.
“His case is presented as severe and would cause him to be severely neurologically impaired – functioning at a 2-3 month old level at best for his lifetime,” Lisa wrote.
After hearing from the medical professionals, his mother made the difficult choice to take him off life support.
Lisa described the sad loss of their precious child.
“While we weren’t ready to say goodbye to Karson, we accepted the inevitable. After withdrawing intensive care and the ventilator, we were given 10 minutes to expect his heart to cease and him to not breathe.

Lisa believed “God had other plans” and that she and her daughter experienced a miracle.
After the ventilator was removed, heart rate and oxygen normalized, he started breathing on his own, and here we are five hours later with this miracle kid who we were told would never breathe, swallow, have gag reflexes, or survive. His breathing is independent.
“He swallows. He survived. He even opened his eyes briefly today.”
No medical or scientific data supports this tiny fighter living, she claimed, so his physicians only have a miracle explanation.
“I didn’t realize we deserved a miracle…I’m not sure how long we’ll have him, but we do. Now we’ll take, Lisa wrote.
On March 1, she and her family received the exciting news that their tiny bundle of joy would arrive that week.
“I am humbled daily, and when I think God is done, I am reminded he is not.Lisa added, “I have no words for my gratitude and I will praise Him as long as I have air,” for giving Karson his.
From her initial post, commentators supported the trip, celebrating Karson’s survival with more than 30,000 replies to the one proclaiming her success.
Karson Jax: My life changed on this day last year. Exactly one year ago, I thought I understood everything.
Now that their miracle baby is home, we wish this lovely family health and happiness.
