Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert Finally Release First Duet: “A Song to Sing”

After years of behind-the-scenes collaborations and electric live performances, Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert have finally teamed up for an official duet — and it’s already turning heads.

    Years in the Making

While “A Song to Sing” marks their first official release as a duo, Stapleton and Lambert’s creative connection runs deep. Stapleton has long been a presence in Lambert’s music, lending backing vocals to tracks like “Time to Get a Gun” and “Hard Staying Sober”, which he also co-wrote. Their onstage chemistry has been on full display over the years, from their 2014 duet of “Hard Staying Sober” to a stirring performance of “Maggie’s Song” at the 2021 ACM Awards.

Now, with the July 11 release of “A Song to Sing”, fans finally have a collaboration they can keep on repeat.

Country Soul With a Retro Groove

Written by Lambert, Stapleton, Jesse Frasure, and Jenee Fleenor, the song leans into soulful country roots while flirting with a soft disco vibe. Lyrically, it captures the emotional tension of life on tour, creative drive, and the grounding power of love.

“To have someone so soulful and willing to dive deep into the emotions… that’s next level,” Lambert told The Tennessean. “When we finished writing it, we knew it had to be released.”

The track struck a chord quickly, shooting to the top of Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart just days after release.

    A Live Debut to Remember

Fans at Stapleton’s All-American Road Show tour stop at SoFi Stadium on July 19 got a surprise treat — the live debut of the duet.

“Brand-new,” Lambert said from the stage. “It’s the first time we’ve ever played this live.”

The crowd erupted as the pair launched into the heartfelt ballad, their voices blending with the kind of chemistry that only comes from years of shared stages and mutual respect.

With “A Song to Sing”, Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert have delivered more than a long-awaited duet — they’ve created a soulful snapshot of modern country, rooted in authenticity and shared history.
