During her appearance on Monday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Katy Perry revealed some shocking news.

The longstanding judge announced her departure from American Idol following seven seasons.

“I believe this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol,” Perry disclosed to Kimmel. I mean, I adore Idol. It has brought me closer to the American spirit, but I need to find my own rhythm, you know what I mean, Jimmy?”

Perry, who was promoting the series’ 22nd season on the late night show, confessed that not even the other judges were aware of her decision. She is 39 years old.

“Luke and Lionel told me something,” It was Kimmel who inquired.

“Well, tonight they will discover the truth!” Then Perry spoke up.

In 2018, after American Idol had been on FOX for 15 seasons, ABC relaunched the show, and the “Firework” singer became a member of the judges.

The 22nd season judges, including Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie, were named not long ago.

She claimed that Bryan and Richie were aware that she had been to the studio, but she had not told them her intentions; hence, “they figured something is coming.”

“Although I adore the show, I long to travel the world and perhaps release some new music.”

Our hearts will ache without you, Katy, but we eagerly await your next surprise for your devoted followers!
