Chapter 6: The Archive of Lies
My hands shook as I plugged the drive into my laptop.
I expected photographs. Maybe a childish diary. Maybe something Sofia had hidden because she was scared and did not know what else to do.
What opened on the screen was something far colder.
Folders. Dates. Videos. Audio clips. Documents.
It was an archive.
File by file, the shape of Renata’s plan revealed itself. There were recordings of her coaching Sofia on how to cry, how to look frightened, and how to repeat sentences that sounded rehearsed even through the child’s trembling voice.
There were staged moments, false accusations, and carefully arranged scenes meant to make me look dangerous.
My stomach turned.
Renata was not merely lying to me.
She was building a case.
