Looking beyond the awards and chart success of You Look Like You Love Me, the breakout hit also brought Ella Langley an unexpected side effect: nonstop rumors about her personal life. After collaborating with Riley Green, fans became convinced the two were secretly dating, pointing to lyrics, timing, and social media breadcrumbs as “evidence.”
Despite persistent speculation, both Langley and Green have repeatedly denied any romantic involvement. Still, the rumor mill hasn’t slowed — and now, it appears Green may have some playful “competition.”
A Marine Corps Ball Invitation Goes Viral
Instead of another prom or wedding invite that celebrities often receive, Langley was asked to something far more unique: the Marine Corps Ball.
The Marine Corps Ball is a formal celebration honoring the history and traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps, complete with ceremony, dinner, music, dancing, and the iconic cake-cutting ritual. Add several hundred Marines in dress blues, and it quickly becomes one of the most meaningful nights of the year.
Hoping to give Langley a firsthand look at that tradition, Gunnery Sgt. Stephen Corson decided to shoot his shot — and he did it on camera.
“It’s kind of a Marine Corps thing,” Corson explained. “People joke about inviting celebrities, and I finally thought… why not?”
“Choosin’ Utah” For A Night?
In the now-viral video, Corson humorously asked ChatGPT what the odds were that Langley would say yes. The answer wasn’t encouraging — but it wasn’t zero either.
So he went for it.
“I’d like to invite Ms. Ella Langley out to experience core Marine Corps culture for a night,” he said. “I would sing and invite you, but unfortunately I wasn’t gifted with that kind of voice. I don’t normally drink Jack, but we can do that for a night as well. It might not be Tennessee or Texas, but I hope you’re Choosin’ Utah for a night.”

The clever lyric nod and genuine tone immediately struck a chord online.
Fans Volunteer As Tribute Dates
The video, originally posted in November, quickly gained traction among country fans and military supporters alike. While Langley has not publicly responded, the comments section turned into a mix of encouragement — and volunteers willing to step in if needed.
“Ella Langley PLEASE go with this Marine to the Marine Corps birthday ball.”
“I ain’t no Ella, but I’ve been told I resemble her a time or two!”
“Don’t leave this handsome fella without a date!”
“Ella Langley is one of the most gorgeous women I’ve ever heard or seen. Best of luck, brother!”
With the Marine Corps Ball scheduled for January 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Langley had a very tight window to make it work logistically. Whether or not she ultimately accepts the invitation, Corson’s respectful, lighthearted gesture has already won over the internet.
In a world of celebrity rumors and speculation, this moment stood out for something simpler: sincerity, confidence, and a Marine willing to take a chance — no duet required.
