Jelly Roll Surprises Fans With Animated Movie Debut And Secret New Song Reveal

Kelly WhitewoodBy Kelly WhitewoodJanuary 16, 20262 Mins Read

Jelly Roll is officially entering a brand-new chapter of his career — voice acting.

On Wednesday, January 14, it was confirmed that Jelly Roll has joined the cast of the upcoming animated sports comedy Goat. The Grammy-nominated artist shared the film’s trailer on Instagram, along with the first look at his animated character, Grizz, marking his debut in the world of animation.

“Can’t believe I’m saying this y’all — my voice acting debut is COMING SOON!!!” Jelly Roll wrote in the caption.

As if lending his voice wasn’t enough, Jelly Roll’s new song I’m Good is also featured in the movie and can be heard in the very first official trailer.

    About Goat

Goat is a Sony Pictures Animation project made in collaboration with the NBA, according to Deadline. NBA superstar Stephen Curry is among the film’s producers.

The creative team includes artists who previously worked on visually acclaimed animated projects like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and K-Pop Demon Hunters, giving the film serious pedigree before it even hits theaters.

Set in a fully animal-populated world, the story follows a small goat named Will who dreams big. According to IMDb, Will “gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot to join the pros and play roarball,” a fast-paced, full-contact, co-ed sport dominated by the toughest and quickest animals around.

    A Star-Studded Voice Cast

Jelly Roll is far from the only familiar voice in the film. He joins an impressive lineup that includes Jennifer Hudson, Aaron Pierre, Ayesha Curry, Andrew Santino, Bobby Lee, Sherry Cola, and Eduardo Franco.

Additional cast members announced last summer include Stephen Curry, Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Nick Kroll, Nicola Coughlan, David Harbour, Jenifer Lewis, and Patton Oswalt.

    When To Watch

Goat is rated PG and will exclusively hit theaters on February 13.

Between voicing a new character and hearing his own music in an animated feature, Jelly Roll’s latest milestone proves his creative reach continues to expand well beyond the music world.
