Reba McEntire & Rex Linn Announce Their Engagement
Country music icon Reba McEntire and actor Rex Linn have officially confirmed their engagement. The happy news was revealed during a red carpet interview with Zuri Hall from Live From E!: 2025 Emmys, where Hall referred to Rex as Reba’s fiancé. Smiling, the couple replied, “We’re having a blast on Happy’s Place and so glad to be here tonight.”
A Love Story Years in the Making
Reba and Rex’s relationship traces back more than three decades. They first met in 1991 while filming The Gambler and remained friends long after production ended. It wasn’t until they reconnected on the set of Young Sheldon in 2020 that their friendship blossomed into romance.
“We instantly bonded over living in Oklahoma and our love for horses and acting,” Reba recalled. “He made me laugh, and we became good buddies.”
By 2024, Reba had already hinted that marriage was something she’d welcome if Rex wanted it, saying, “If that’s something he feels totally strong about, that’s fine with me. He’s never been married before. So, if he wants to experience that, I’m OK with that.”
Today, the couple not only share life off-screen but also star together in the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place — where their characters may soon mirror real life with an engagement of their own.
Plans for a “Nontraditional” Wedding
In a recent chat with E! News, Reba, now 70, revealed that she and Rex are envisioning a relaxed and joyful celebration rather than a formal affair.
“It’ll be a lot of fun,” she said. “It’s gonna be a nontraditional wedding because that’s Rex and me. We like comfort, we love friends, we love food.”
Rex added that they aren’t in a rush to set a date, choosing instead to enjoy this special time as an engaged couple. “What we’re doing right now honestly is enjoying our engagement time,” he explained. “We haven’t set a date — we’re just going to enjoy our engagement and enjoy going to Happy’s Place every day.”
