Todd Snider Injured in Violent Assault, Cancels Remaining Tour Dates

Singer-songwriter Todd Snider has cancelled the remainder of his High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour after being injured in what his team described as a “violent assault” outside his hotel in Salt Lake City.

    The Incident and Immediate Aftermath

In a statement shared on November 3, Snider’s team wrote:

“We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 Tour dates. Ahead of Todd Snider’s show in Salt Lake City, Todd sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel.”

The 59-year-old artist, celebrated for his witty storytelling and eclectic blend of folk, rock, country, blues, and funk, had just kicked off the tour on October 30 in Englewood, Colorado. He had been promoting his new album, High and Lonesome and Then Some.

Snider’s representatives confirmed that he will be unable to perform for an “undetermined amount of time” as he undergoes medical treatment and recovery.

“We deeply apologize for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes,” the statement added.

    Reported Arrest Following Hospital Release

In an unexpected turn, TMZ reported that shortly after being discharged from Salt Lake City Regional Hospital, Snider was allegedly arrested following a confrontation with hospital staff.

According to the report, Snider began yelling and cursing at employees and was asked to leave the premises. While he initially complied, authorities say he returned soon after and allegedly made verbal threats, telling one individual he was going to “kick [their] a**.”

No further details about charges or ongoing legal proceedings have been officially released.

    Tour and Career Outlook

Snider had been scheduled to perform in Phoenix on Monday before continuing through California, Washington, Oregon, and wrapping up in Montana later this month. All remaining dates have now been cancelled pending his recovery.

Known for his sharp humor, poetic lyricism, and authenticity, Snider has built a dedicated following over his decades-long career — a voice as comfortable poking fun at modern life as it is reflecting on its heartbreaks.

As fans await further updates, messages of support have poured in across social media, with many expressing hopes for his swift recovery and return to the stage.
