Sheryl Crow Raves Over Kelly Clarkson’s Powerful Cover of “All I Wanna Do”
The magic of Kellyoke strikes again—this time with Sheryl Crow giving a standing ovation from afar. During a recent segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson delivered a powerhouse rendition of Crow’s 1994 hit All I Wanna Do. Though many artists have taken a shot at covering the beloved track, Crow herself declared Clarkson’s version her favorite—even more than her own.
“Good grief,” Crow wrote on Instagram. “@kellyclarkson could sing the damn phone book! I love this version better than mine!!”
Clarkson is no stranger to honoring Crow’s music. In 2023, she performed Dance Around It (originally by Lucius, featuring Crow and Brandi Carlile), and earlier in Kellyoke history, she’s tackled If It Makes You Happy and The First Cut Is the Deepest, each time earning praise from fans and fellow artists.
Crow has made two guest appearances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, most recently promoting her album Evolution. Clarkson, a longtime admirer, told her, “You have this beautiful way of writing meaningful lyrics while keeping the music fun and easy to sing along to.”
Throughout the current season of Kellyoke, Clarkson has also wowed audiences with covers of Raye’s Worth It, Foo Fighters’ Learn to Fly, Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl, and even revisited some of her own hits like Since U Been Gone, Heartbeat Song, and Dark Side.
According to music director Jason Halbert, the Kellyoke song list is a collaborative effort, with Clarkson playing a key role in picking tracks that suit her style. “There are certain songs that just work perfectly with her voice,” he told Vulture.
And clearly, All I Wanna Do was one of them.
