A Wedding That Will Never Be Forgotten
There was a golden glow emanating from the stained-glass windows that illuminated the altar. I was holding Jason’s hands and getting ready to say “I do.” My heart was pounding in my chest, and I was filled with excitement. I had been dreaming about this moment for a very long time: my eternity with him.
Inhaling deeply, the priest drew a breath. “If there is anyone who is opposed to this union, speak up now or your silence will remain forever.”
There is no sound. There was a stunning and perfect silence.
Next, —
“I OBJECT! You are not going to engage in this activity with her!
A voice reverberated throughout the church, causing everything to be shattered. There was a reverberation of gasps as heads turned. In the middle of his forties, a man who was untidy walked down the aisle. In all of my years, I had never previously encountered him.
“What in devil’s name?” While Jason was muttering next to me, his fingers began to tighten around mine.
A second wave of turmoil broke out before I had even had a chance to defend myself. ***Cops***…
They rushed through the doors of the church, pushing their way past the astonished congregation. The moment they arrived at the altar, they grabbed Jason by the arms and walked away.
“Jason Carter, you are being taken into custody!”
The globe began to tilt. I stumbled backwards in my steps. “What is it? Do not! “Stop!”
As they held on to him, Jason twisted. Lizzie, I am able to explain—”
He was not allowed to do so by the officers. The lovely wedding I had planned for myself fell apart around me as they coerced him down the aisle.
The dress I was wearing dragged across the floor as I hurried after them. Hold on! What exactly is going on?
The unkempt man, who was the one who raised the objection, directed his gaze toward me with eyes that were filled with a mixture of pity and anger.
“He calls me his wife.”
Everything came to a halt.
Despite the fact that my feet were still planted on the earth, I had the sensation that I was falling.
As Jason fought against the officers, he thrashed. Listen to me, Lily! What you believe is not the case—”
“STOP TALKING!” yelled the man, who was actually his spouse. He shifted his attention to me. His marriage to my brother has been going strong for the past five years. And what do you think? You are not his first fiancee, he claims. In addition to stealing money from women, he vanishes without a trace.
My lungs were emptied of air. As everything began to come together, I couldn’t help but stare at Jason, the stranger whom I had come so close to marrying.
On each and every occasion, he insisted on being in charge of the wedding funds.
When I asked him about his history, he gave me all of the fast and hazy responses.
Who was he traveling with throughout all of his work trips? Was he with someone else the entire time?
It is true, right? I was unable to speak.
Jason, if that was even his true name, was just standing there doing nothing. The fact that he remained silent revealed everything to me.
That day, my love story came to an end before it had even had a chance to start. However, as I look back, I understand that the individual in question did not destroy my wedding.
He preserved me from a lifetime of deceit and deception.
