After missing President Jimmy Carter’s funeral earlier this week, Michelle Obama will not be present at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday. Since her mother passed away in May, the former First Lady has maintained a low public profile.

Given that she is renowned for being picky about her public looks, sources indicate that she made this decision on purpose. Her husband, former President Barack Obama, on the other hand, will attend the inauguration. Even if they had a tense relationship with Trump, Obama’s attendance shows that he is dedicated to performing ceremonial obligations.
