New details have emerged surrounding the sudden death of Hayden Panettiere, after emergency dispatch audio revealed what first responders were told as they rushed to the actress’ aid.
Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes, Nashville and the Scream franchise, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at age 36. She was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina.
According to newly reported 911 dispatch audio, emergency personnel were sent to the residence shortly before 2 p.m. following reports of an unresponsive woman in cardiac arrest. The dispatch communications also included a reference to a possible overdose.
That detail has generated considerable attention, but it does not establish Panettiere’s official cause of death.
Authorities have not determined publicly that an overdose caused her death, and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has said the cause and manner remain pending additional testing.
