Ella Langley’s Unplugged “Choosin’ Texas” Turns A Country Hit Into A Goosebump Moment

Kelly WhitewoodBy Kelly WhitewoodJanuary 24, 20263 Mins Read

If you’re already hooked on Choosin’ Texas, you’re probably going to fall even harder for the stripped-down acoustic version Ella Langley just shared.

On Tuesday, January 20, Ella posted a video on Instagram showing herself at home, slowing the song way down and performing it with nothing more than an acoustic guitar. The relaxed setting let the lyrics and emotion take center stage—and fans immediately felt it.

In the caption, Ella thanked listeners for the overwhelming support and admitted she’s still trying to wrap her head around how big the song has become.

“Every. Single. Day. Y’all continue to blow me away with the love for this song,” she wrote. “We knew it was special when we wrote it, but I truly never imagined it would turn into this ❤️.”

Fans flooded the comments with praise for the raw, unplugged performance. Some shared how the song has become part of their everyday lives, while others begged her to officially release the acoustic version. Words like “heavenly,” “on repeat,” and “stuck in my head forever” popped up again and again.

The response isn’t surprising. Since its release in October, “Choosin’ Texas” has become a defining moment in Langley’s career. Last month, it reached No. 1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart—her first chart-topper as a solo artist. It also made history as the fastest-rising solo female song at U.S. country radio this decade, cracking the Top 10 in just eight weeks.

And believe it or not, the song all started with a casual conversation.

The Real-Life Moment That Sparked “Choosin’ Texas”

Miranda Lambert is a co-writer on the track, and the inspiration came from one of her own unforgettable life moments. Before the song was officially released, Ella teased it during a few live shows and shared the backstory with fans—especially during a performance in Nashville.

The idea took shape at a songwriting retreat where Ella and Miranda were spending time together. During a conversation, Miranda casually told a story that immediately stuck.

According to Ella, Miranda described driving down a dirt road with a pet kangaroo in the backseat and her dog riding shotgun—already chaos enough. Then she got pulled over by a police officer… with Texas plates still on the car.

    That moment lit the spark.

Ella recalled walking away when lyrics started forming almost instantly. Miranda, hearing them from behind, jumped in with a sharper twist on the idea—and suddenly the song took on a life of its own. Within about half an hour, the core of “Choosin’ Texas” was finished.

Sometimes the best songs don’t come from overthinking—they just fall out.

Now, with fans begging for an official acoustic release, it looks like “Choosin’ Texas” might have even more life ahead of it. Until then, the slowed-down version Ella shared is more than enough to keep people hitting replay.

    Give it a listen below.

Previous ArticleWhen Hugh Jackman stepped back into The Music Man, the theater didn’t erupt right away. It stilled. Not because people didn’t know what to do — but because they knew exactly what they were seeing. Eleven years on, this wasn’t a star repeating a triumph. It was an artist returning to something that had never really left him. Jackman took his time. A soft smile. A measured look across the audience. Then, almost under his breath: “Alright… let’s do this.” No swagger. No grand announcement. Just comfort — the kind that comes from having lived inside a character long enough to stop proving anything. His voice carried a different weight now. Warmer. Fuller. Unhurried. He let moments breathe, trusted the pauses, allowed silence to do some of the work. One audience member later whispered, “He wasn’t chasing the applause — he already knew where it lived.” By the end, Broadway didn’t just applaud. It exhaled. Because some performances don’t get louder with time — they get truer. And watching Hugh Jackman return home like this reminded everyone in the room why certain roles, like certain seasons of life, hit harder when you finally meet them again
