    • “A FLEETING REMARK — BUT THE ENTIRE STAGE OF PRIVATE LIFE LIGHTS UP.” Under the flashing lights of the cameras and the sound of rolling suitcases on the cold stone floor of LAX, Rick Springfield emerged as if he had just been pulled onto an impromptu Hollywood stage. No intro music, no script, he delivered a short but sharp statement, echoing through the noisy space like a guitar note cutting through the silence. That moment suddenly transformed into a post-divorce monologue, where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban — though absent — were still placed under an invisible spotlight. While the legal documents coldly closed with numbers and clauses, that advice carried the raw rhythm of rock and roll: frank, bold, and unvarnished. The crowd stopped, the cameras held their frames, and the statement spread like a controversial chorus. Not an official performance, but it was a moment when the stage lit up — where a brief remark was enough to stir up all of Hollywood.

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn Are Engaged After Five Years Together

Country music icon Reba McEntire and actor Rex Linn have officially taken the next step in their long-running love story — the couple is engaged!

The pair shared the exciting news in September while walking the red carpet at the Primetime Emmy Awards, confirming what fans had been hoping to hear for quite some time.

A Love Story Decades in the Making

Reba and Rex’s relationship began more than thirty years ago. They first met back in 1991 on the set of The Gambler, long before their romance ever began. After reconnecting years later, their friendship blossomed into a romance, and they’ve now been together for over five years.

In addition to being partners in real life, the two also star together in the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place. Reba plays Bobbie, who inherits her late father’s pub, while Rex portrays Emmett, the pub’s dependable line cook.

Melissa Peterman Shares Her Excitement for the Couple

One of the first people to speak publicly about the engagement was their close friend and Happy’s Place co-star Melissa Peterman.

During an appearance on The Sherri Shepherd Show, Peterman couldn’t contain her excitement:

“I am beyond thrilled for her. I’ve known her for over 20 years, and watching her with Rex — she’s truly herself with him. They’re so in love.”

When asked if she had given Rex her official “stamp of approval,” Peterman revealed she was actually present the night sparks began to fly between the two.

She explained that she, Reba, and Rex had met for dinner in Los Angeles to discuss joining the cast of Young Sheldon. By the end of the night, Reba and Rex’s friendship had clearly begun to evolve into something deeper.

Could Melissa Peterman Sing at the Wedding?

While wedding details haven’t been announced yet, Peterman jokingly revealed her dream role for the big day — the entertainment.

“What I lack in pitch, I make up for in volume and commitment,” she laughed. “It’d just be cool to tell people I sang at Reba McEntire’s wedding.”

What’s Next for Reba and Rex

Between their wedding planning and packed schedules, Reba and Rex are busier than ever. Reba is currently serving as a coach on Season 28 of The Voice, while Happy’s Place returns for its highly anticipated second season on November 7.

A brand-new trailer for Happy’s Place recently dropped, teasing plenty of laughs and maybe even a touch of romance between Reba’s and Rex’s on-screen characters.

Fans can expect the same mix of humor and heart that made the first season a hit — and perhaps a few real-life sparks between the now-engaged couple.
