Keith Urban Silences the Room With a Haunting Bee Gees Cover That Moved Even Barry Gibb to Tears

Keith Urban Moves Barry Gibb to Tears with Emotional Bee Gees Tribute

When Keith Urban took the stage to perform “To Love Somebody” during Stayin’ Alive: A GRAMMY Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees, no one in the audience expected the night’s most powerful moment would come not from special effects or a roaring guitar solo—but from raw emotion.

As Urban poured his heart into the Bee Gees classic, the cameras turned to Barry Gibb, the band’s lead singer and last surviving co-founder. With glistening eyes and a trembling smile, Gibb wiped away tears—moved by Urban’s hauntingly tender tribute to the music he and his brothers created decades ago.

A Star-Studded Celebration of the Bee Gees

The tribute concert, filmed as a GRAMMY Salute, brought together a powerhouse lineup of artists honoring one of the most influential bands in pop history.
Among the performers were Ed Sheeran, Pentatonix, Demi Lovato, Little Big Town, and Celine Dion—each delivering a heartfelt interpretation of the Bee Gees’ timeless catalog.

Yet, despite the glittering lineup, it was Urban’s understated, soul-stirring performance that became the emotional peak of the night.

Keith Urban’s Soulful Performance

With just his guitar and that unmistakable voice, Urban stripped “To Love Somebody” down to its emotional core. His delivery was intimate, gentle, and reverent—letting the song’s message of longing and devotion take center stage.

As he sang the chorus, the room seemed to still. When the final note faded, the audience erupted in applause—but all eyes were on Barry Gibb, visibly overcome by the tribute.

A Legacy That Lives On

For longtime fans, the moment was a poignant reminder of the Bee Gees’ lasting impact. The band’s music helped define an era, from the soaring falsettos of “Stayin’ Alive” to the heartfelt emotion of “Too Much Heaven” and “Immortality.”

While Stayin’ Alive: A GRAMMY Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees was filled with dazzling performances, Keith Urban’s moving rendition of “To Love Somebody” stood apart—not for its showmanship, but for its sincerity.

As Barry Gibb’s quiet tears proved, some songs—and some performances—never fade. They simply find new ways to touch the heart.
