Goldie Hawn’s Emotional Oscars Moment with Andrew Garfield Leaves Audience in Tears
Goldie Hawn has long been one of Hollywood’s most cherished icons, captivating audiences for decades with her warmth, talent, and unforgettable performances.

This year, she took the stage at the Oscars to present an award—but what happened next turned into a deeply moving moment that left the entire room misty-eyed.

Andrew Garfield’s Heartfelt Tribute to Goldie Hawn
During the 2025 Academy Awards, held on March 2 at Las Vegas’ Dolby Theater, Andrew Garfield and Goldie Hawn were paired to present the award for Best Animated Film. Before announcing the winner, Garfield took a moment to express just how much Hawn meant to him—and to his late mother.

Turning to the First Wives Club star, Garfield spoke from the heart. “You have no idea how much joy you’ve brought into the world,” he told her, his voice filled with emotion. He then shared how Hawn’s films had provided his mother with immense comfort throughout her life.

Garfield, who has always been open about his grief following the loss of his mother to pancreatic cancer in 2019, held Hawn’s hand as he continued, “I feel so lucky to be able to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn.”

“You’ve given us movies full of joy,” he added. “You’ve lifted our spirits and made us feel like everything was right in the world, time and time again.”

    Goldie Hawn’s Emotional Response
Hawn was visibly touched by Garfield’s words, smiling warmly as she responded, “Thank you so much, that really touches me.”

Reflecting on her career, she humbly added, “I was so lucky to make movies… and to make people laugh. And maybe some didn’t, but that’s okay,” she said with a chuckle.

The heartfelt exchange brought many in the audience to tears, as Hawn and Garfield shared a genuine moment of gratitude and admiration.

Garfield’s Reflections on Loss and Healing
Garfield has never been one to shy away from discussing grief, often speaking about his mother’s passing with profound honesty.

During an interview about his role in We Live In Time, he reflected on the universal nature of loss, saying, “I’m not unique in this experience… but one of the most healing, reassuring things I’ve come to understand is that this is how it’s been since the beginning of time.”

“Sons have lost their mothers, daughters have lost their mothers—it’s part of life,” he continued. “And as heartbreaking as it is, we’re lucky when it happens in that order. Because I can’t even begin to imagine the pain of a parent losing a child.”

    A Moment to Cherish
Andrew Garfield has a rare ability to make others feel truly seen and appreciated, and his touching tribute to Goldie Hawn was yet another example of that.

Moments like these remind us how precious life is and the incredible impact people can have on one another—sometimes without even realizing it. Share this story to spread a little bit of that warmth and gratitude!
