An individual named Ashad Russell, who was a bystander who interfered during an assault on a sheriff’s deputy in Florida, was exonerated of any misconduct by the State Attorney’s Office. While on Interstate 75, Russell, who is 35 years old, witnessed Deputy Dean Bardes being assaulted. After receiving instructions to do so, Russell, who was in possession of a permit to carry a concealed weapon, took action to protect the deputy. The State Attorney’s Office came to the conclusion that Russell’s actions were a reasonable response. Russell’s response was praised by Sheriff Mike Scott, according to Strother’s brother, who expressed displeasure with the statement. There was no additional action taken once the case was examined and closed.
