Why Is This Electrical Outlet Upside Down?
Have you ever noticed a wall outlet with the round grounding opening on top and wondered whether someone installed it incorrectly?
Probably not.
What looks like an “upside-down” outlet can be completely intentional. Rotating a standard North American receptacle doesn’t inherently change how it works—the hot, neutral and ground connections still perform the same functions when the receptacle is properly wired.
So why do some electricians install outlets ground-up?
