    Chapter 6: The Truth Beneath the Fortune

    The attorney placed the trust document on the table between them.

    “Seven years ago,” the man said, “I was already losing everything. My company, my health, my name. I had enemies inside my own family, and they were searching for the one person who could legally inherit what I built.”

    Elena stared at the beneficiary line, but the letters refused to settle.

    “Why me?”

    The man’s eyes filled with something too heavy to fake.

    “Because you are not a stranger.”

    The room seemed to tilt.

    “Your mother never told you,” he continued. “She had reasons. Maybe good ones. Maybe unforgivable ones. But I have carried the truth longer than you have carried that note.”

    Elena looked down again.

    The beneficiary name was not a client.

    It was hers.
