The weeks that followed were filled with lawyers, documents, frozen accounts, and conversations I never imagined having after only two years of marriage.
Andrew called.
He texted.
He begged.
At first, he said it was a mistake.
Then he said he had been confused.
Then he said I was being cruel for leaving while his career was falling apart.
That was when I finally understood how deep the selfishness went.
Even in ruin, he wanted my sympathy more than my forgiveness. He wanted comfort without accountability, peace without truth, and a second chance without first becoming a different man.
