Colorado has a more complex risk profile. Its mountains, rural areas, and natural geography may seem protective, but the state also contains important military and strategic infrastructure.
Because of that, Colorado is sometimes listed among states that could face serious danger if a global conflict escalated into nuclear war.
In a major conflict, strategic facilities, communication systems, defense operations, and command-linked locations could become targets. This means certain parts of Colorado may be far more vulnerable than they appear from the outside.
Geography can offer some protection, but it cannot erase the risk created by military importance.
