    At 17, Emily’s life changed overnight when a drunk driver caused a crash that severely injured her spine. Months later, she attended prom feeling isolated and afraid of being seen only through the lens of disability. While most people kept their distance, Marcus—one of the school’s popular students—walked directly up to her and asked her to dance.
