“This Is Not The End”: The Singing Barber’s American Idol Farewell Hits Harder Than Expected

Kelly WhitewoodBy Kelly WhitewoodJanuary 29, 20263 Mins Read

Noah Peters — better known to fans as The Singing Barber — said goodbye to American Idol during the show’s first-ever Idol Arena Hollywood Week. Peters was one of 80 contestants eliminated on Sunday night (March 31), a round that Gold Derby labeled the “largest cut in Idol history.”

The Singing Barber Says Goodbye to American Idol

After learning his fate on the broadcast, the viral barber-turned-singer took to Instagram, posting a photo with his son and sharing a heartfelt message of gratitude for the experience and the support he received.

“Hollywood Week was absolutely incredible. This isn’t the end — it’s just the beginning,” Peters wrote. “Thank you to @americanidol for such an amazing experience!”

Peters echoed those sentiments on Facebook, calling Hollywood Week “unforgettable” and highlighting the bonds he formed with fellow contestants. “The friendships and memories I made will stay with me forever,” he shared, adding, “I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity. And singing barber fans — trust me, we’re just getting started ❤️.”

Major Cuts Shake Up Hollywood Week

Peters wasn’t alone in his exit. Other fan favorites — including Conall Gorman, Kyra, Abby Blake, Bethany Teague, Meggie Iyer, Madai Chakell, Kimi, CJ Rislove, and Jacy Matthews — were also eliminated, leaving 56 contestants to advance.

The upcoming Showstoppers Round airs Monday night (April 1) and will trim the field down to the Top 24, according to Gold Derby.

Who Is Noah Peters, a.k.a. The Singing Barber?

Peters first gained widespread attention on TikTok, where he became known as The Singing Barber — a small-town hairstylist who serenades clients while cutting their hair. His videos quickly went viral, pulling in millions of views and building a devoted fanbase before his Idol debut.

A Memorable Audition That Won Over the Judges

Peters made a strong impression during his audition, delivering standout performances of Rascal Flatts’ “I Won’t Let Go” and Chris Stapleton’s “Broken Halos.” The then-24-year-old Tennessee native earned high praise from the judging panel.

Katy Perry praised the “sweetness, soul, and purity” in his voice, while Lionel Richie noted the unique quality of his sound. Luke Bryan also applauded his relaxed and natural delivery.

The performance earned Peters three yeses from Perry, Richie, and Bryan — and a golden ticket to Hollywood Week.

Following the audition, Peters reflected on the magnitude of the moment. “Coming from a small town, singing in front of huge stars is a whole different world,” he said. “It’s nerve-wracking, but I’m beyond excited.”

During his audition episode, former Idol finalist Colin Stough even made a surprise appearance, returning to the show for a haircut from Peters on national television.

Fans can continue following Noah Peters’ journey by keeping up with The Singing Barber on TikTok and Instagram as he builds momentum beyond the American Idol stage.
