    • “A FLEETING REMARK — BUT THE ENTIRE STAGE OF PRIVATE LIFE LIGHTS UP.” Under the flashing lights of the cameras and the sound of rolling suitcases on the cold stone floor of LAX, Rick Springfield emerged as if he had just been pulled onto an impromptu Hollywood stage. No intro music, no script, he delivered a short but sharp statement, echoing through the noisy space like a guitar note cutting through the silence. That moment suddenly transformed into a post-divorce monologue, where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban — though absent — were still placed under an invisible spotlight. While the legal documents coldly closed with numbers and clauses, that advice carried the raw rhythm of rock and roll: frank, bold, and unvarnished. The crowd stopped, the cameras held their frames, and the statement spread like a controversial chorus. Not an official performance, but it was a moment when the stage lit up — where a brief remark was enough to stir up all of Hollywood.

Alabama to Play Birmingham’s Coca-Cola Amphitheater With Jamey Johnson

Live Nation has announced that legendary country band Alabama will return to their home state to headline a major concert at Coca-Cola Amphitheater in Birmingham on Saturday, May 9, with Jamey Johnson set to join as a special guest.

Tickets go on sale Friday, January 23 at 10 a.m. via LiveNation.com.

Few artists are as closely tied to the state of Alabama as the band that bears its name. Formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969, Alabama rose from local shows and small-town venues to become one of the most successful acts in country music history. Over their career, the band has sold more than 75 million records, earned 40+ No. 1 hits, and collected countless industry awards.

Alabama helped redefine modern country music by blending traditional country storytelling with Southern rock and pop influences, paving the way for generations of artists. Their catalog includes timeless classics such as “Mountain Music,” “Song of the South,” “Feels So Right,” and “Dixieland Delight” — the latter now inseparable from Alabama football games and Southern pride.

    Jamey Johnson Joins the Night

Opening the show will be Jamey Johnson, another Alabama native with deep roots in the genre. Born in Enterprise, Alabama, Johnson is known for his uncompromising, traditional approach to country music. A former Marine and highly respected songwriter, he has written songs recorded by George Strait, Willie Nelson, and others, while also building a devoted fanbase of his own.

Johnson’s acclaimed songs — including “In Color,” “High Cost of Living,” and “The Dollar” — are celebrated for their honesty, grit, and storytelling, making him a natural fit alongside Alabama for a night rooted in country music tradition.

    A Homecoming Celebration

The May 9 concert is expected to draw fans from across the Southeast, bringing together two Alabama-born acts on one stage in the heart of the state. With Alabama’s legendary catalog and Jamey Johnson’s soul-deep songwriting, the evening promises to be a powerful celebration of country music’s past, present, and enduring legacy.
