The on-screen chemistry between Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue has been impossible to ignore—and not everyone behind the scenes is reportedly thrilled about it.

According to sources speaking with Radar Online, Jackman’s Broadway-star girlfriend Sutton Foster is said to be struggling with jealousy over the sparks flying between her partner and his co-star. Representatives for Foster, Jackman, and Hudson have not commented on the claims.

Jackman and Foster confirmed their relationship earlier this year, stepping out publicly together in January. Their romance followed Jackman’s highly publicized split from Deborra-Lee Furness, ending a 27-year marriage that was officially finalized in June 2025.

Meanwhile, Hudson—who has been in a long-term relationship with musician Danny Fujikawa since 2016—stars opposite Jackman as one half of a musician couple who fall in love while bonding over the music of Neil Diamond. The film’s romantic energy has fueled plenty of chatter.

Insiders claim Jackman and Hudson grew especially close during filming, even joking that they felt like a married couple—remarks that allegedly didn’t sit well with Foster. Some suggest the tension may also stem from the fact that Foster herself could have been a natural fit for the role.

One source told Radar Online that viewers may wonder why Foster wasn’t cast alongside Jackman, noting that she matches the role’s age and aesthetic—and is a seasoned singer. However, the insider said the project required a co-star with equal mainstream star power, which ultimately led to Hudson being cast.

While those close to the production insist Jackman and Hudson are nothing more than friends, concerns remain that the upcoming press tour could intensify the strain. “With all the promotion ahead, it’s only going to become harder for Sutton,” the source claimed, adding that Jackman may not fully grasp why it’s such a sensitive issue.

That said, not all signs point to tension. An attendee at the Song Sung Blue premiere earlier this month said Foster and Hudson appeared perfectly cordial, even sharing what was described as a warm, friendly exchange that seemed to shut down talk of any bad blood.

The rumored friction also arrives amid renewed reports of lingering tension between Jackman and his ex-wife, Furness. Jackman and Foster made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2025 AFI Fest last October, and his very public displays of affection have reportedly reopened old wounds.

Another outlet claims that attempts at maintaining peace between Jackman and Furness recently unraveled, with sources alleging she was upset by how visible his new relationship has become. From red carpets to concerts—and even public cuddling—the actor is said to be putting his romance front and center.

The situation reportedly became even more uncomfortable when Jackman introduced Foster to longtime Australian friends during a New York outing that included Hudson. Videos later surfaced of Jackman and Hudson singing “Sweet Caroline” together during a karaoke night, clips that were shared by both Jackman and Foster online.

According to insiders, that moment was especially painful for Furness, as the group included many friends she once considered family. The idea of them all singing together reportedly felt like being erased from her own circle.

Reports also claim that Jackman’s plan to bring Foster to Australia over the holidays was the final breaking point, with Furness hoping for a quieter, more neutral family Christmas for the sake of their children.

Whether these behind-the-scenes tensions are real or exaggerated, one thing is clear: Song Sung Blue is already making waves—both on screen and off.
