Season 29 is almost here — and it’s shaping up to be a landmark chapter for The Voice. Officially titled The Voice: Battle of Champions, the upcoming season will introduce the show’s first-ever three-Coach format, led by a trio of proven powerhouses: The Voice veterans Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend. And fans won’t have to wait long to tune in.

    When Season 29 Premieres

The Voice: Battle of Champions debuts Monday, February 23, 2026, at 9/8c on NBC. New episodes will continue to air Monday nights, with next-day streaming available on Peacock. Alongside the all-star Coach lineup, Season 29 promises major format changes designed to raise the stakes like never before.

Why John Legend Keeps Coming Back

Speaking with NBC Insider, John Legend shared why his role as a Coach continues to energize him. He explained that being surrounded by emerging talent keeps him inspired, especially after two decades of making records. The hunger and excitement of the Artists, he said, is “very renewing” and never gets old.

Legend also highlighted the balance the show offers his personal life. Living in Los Angeles with his four children, he appreciates being able to work close to home — dropping his kids off at school before heading to set — while still finding creative fulfillment through mentoring new voices.

What’s New in Battle of Champions

Season 29 introduces a bold competitive structure built around innovation and legacy. Each of the four rounds will feature a brand-new element, making this one of the most experimental seasons in the show’s history.

    Blind Auditions: Triple Turn Competition
For the first time, the Coaches will battle for the most 3-Chair Turns during the Blinds. The Coach who racks up the most triple turns earns a strategic advantage heading into the Battles. Each Coach will finish the Blinds with 10 Artists on their team.

    Battle Rounds: Super Steal Twist
The winner of the Triple Turn Competition receives a Super Steal — a one-time power move that blocks all other Coaches from stealing an Artist, guaranteeing that Coach’s claim during the Battles.

    Knockouts: In-Season All-Star Competition
Each Coach will bring back two Artists from their past teams to compete in special head-to-head sing-offs. The Coach with the most All-Star wins earns two guaranteed Artists in the Season 29 Finale. Adding even more nostalgia, original Season 1 Coach CeeLo Green will return to judge the All-Star Knockouts.

    Semi-Finals & Finale: Expanded Voting
The Semi-Finals will narrow the competition from the Top 9 down to a Top 4 Finale. For the first time ever, voting will include a special in-studio group made up of super-fans and former Voice Artists, giving them real-time voting power during the Semi-Finals and Finale.

    Get Ready for February

Before Season 29 kicks off, fans can catch up with Season 28 on NBC, airing Mondays at 9/8c and streaming the next day on Peacock.

With a stripped-down Coach lineup, major rule changes, and a format built around competition and legacy, The Voice: Battle of Champions isn’t just another season — it’s a full reset. February 2026 can’t come soon enough.
