At the 14th Annual CMA Country Christmas in 2023, Ashley McBryde delivered a standout performance of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” joined by electrifying violinist Lindsey Stirling.

The holiday special was hosted by Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood, and aired on ABC on December 14, 2023. In addition to their hosting duties, Grant and Yearwood teamed up for two festive duets — “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Joy to the World.” Each also took the stage solo, with Grant performing her classic “Grown Up Christmas List” and Yearwood delivering a powerful rendition of “O Holy Night,” accompanied by Stirling.

The night featured an impressive lineup of performances, including:

Jordan Davis – “O Come All Ye Faithful”

The War and Treaty – “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)”

Jon Pardi – “Beer for Santa”

Lady A – “What Christmas Means to Me”

Lainey Wilson and Zach Williams – “Go Tell It on the Mountain”

One of the evening’s most memorable moments came from McBryde and Stirling’s playful take on “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” the iconic song from How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Written by Dr. Seuss with music by Albert Hague, the song was originally brought to life by Thurl Ravenscroft, whose booming voice made the sarcastic lyrics unforgettable.

Known for its jazzy flair and mischievous tone, the song took on new life in this performance. Stirling opened the number surrounded by dancers in Grinch-inspired costumes, wearing a striking lime-green dress while effortlessly blending violin performance with energetic choreography. Her signature high kicks — all while playing — once again stole the spotlight.

After an extended instrumental intro, McBryde made her entrance in a red off-the-shoulder jumpsuit, delivering the vocals with confidence and precision. The pairing brought together theatrical flair, musical skill, and holiday fun in a performance that quickly became a fan favorite.

The result was a bold, jazzy, and unforgettable Christmas moment.
