Little Big Town brought holiday magic back to NBC with Christmas at the Opry, which aired on December 16, 2024.

After the special’s successful debut in 2023, NBC confirmed in fall 2024 that it would return — this time with Little Big Town hosting the festivities. The 2024 broadcast featured an impressive lineup that included Kelsea Ballerini, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Orville Peck, Dan + Shay, Kirk Franklin, and Kate Hudson.

    Kate Hudson Steals the Spotlight

Though best known for her acting career, Kate Hudson has been surrounded by music for most of her life. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, is a multi-talented entertainer, and Hudson’s personal life has long overlapped with the music world. She was married for six years to Chris Robinson, with whom she shares a son, Ryder. She later dated Matt Bellamy, and they share a son, Bing. Her current partner, Danny Fujikawa, is a musician and label owner, and together they have a daughter, Rani.

In May 2024, Hudson officially stepped into the music spotlight with the release of her debut album, Glorious, which climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard 200. She’s also been promoting her upcoming film Song Sung Blue, starring alongside Hugh Jackman, where she once again showcases her vocal abilities.

During Christmas at the Opry, Hudson proved she belongs on a music stage. She delivered a confident, heartfelt performance of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” earning widespread praise for her vocal control and stage presence.

She later returned for a playful, sultry rendition of “Santa Baby,” joining Kimberly Schlapman and Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town along with Kelsea Ballerini. Dressed in coordinated Santa outfits, the women traded solo lines before blending together on the chorus, creating one of the night’s most talked-about moments.

Fans watching at home were especially impressed by Hudson’s performances, with many expressing surprise at her vocal range and confidence.

“Kate Hudson — who knew she could sing like that?” one viewer commented online.

The special proved to be both a festive celebration and a reminder that sometimes, hidden talents shine brightest during the holidays.

Just one word from a fan, and the cheers erupted like thunder, spreading throughout the packed auditorium — where over 18,000 hearts held their breath witnessing this unscripted moment. Just days before, he had been forced to cancel a show due to laryngitis, yet now, in the midst of the crowd, emotion completely overwhelmed him. Keith not only laughed through his tears, but also stepped off the stage, hugged the girl tightly, and video-told her family about the pregnancy in front of tens of thousands of erupting fans. In that moment, all the noise of personal life faded away — leaving only an artist trembling with love, and an audience witnessing something rare: a star collapsing not from exhaustion, but from a heart overflowing with emotion.
