On July 24, wrestling icon Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71.
The news broke after emergency crews were dispatched to Hogan’s home in Clearwater, Florida, following reports of a cardiac arrest. Just hours later, his family confirmed his death through a statement shared on his official social media accounts.
“May we all find comfort in the incredible memories he leaves behind for the millions of fans around the world whose lives he touched for more than forty years,” the statement read. “He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”
About a week later, officials released Hogan’s cause of death, confirming he died from an acute myocardial infarction—commonly known as a heart attack. Medical records also revealed that Hogan had been living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a form of cancer affecting white blood cells. His struggle with the illness had not been publicly known prior to his passing.
Hogan was laid to rest during a private funeral service held in his hometown on August 5. He is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, and his two children, Nick Hogan and Brooke Hogan, from his previous marriage to Linda Hogan.
Brooke Hogan Honors Her Father Through Music
Following Hogan’s death, tributes poured in from fans and loved ones alike, including a heartfelt message from his daughter Brooke. At the time of his passing, Brooke had been estranged from her family for several years.
Although she did not attend her father’s funeral, Brooke later shared a photo from the beach with her children in his memory. She also released a lengthy statement addressing public speculation about her relationship with Hogan and clarified her decision to distance herself from her family.
“My dad’s blood runs through my veins. His eyes shine through my children,” she wrote. “Our bond never broke—not even in his final moments. What we shared went far beyond words. I’m grateful I knew the real him, not just the version the world saw. Our connection was quiet, sacred, and undeniable.”
Now, Brooke is channeling that complicated relationship into music.
The 37-year-old recently unveiled a preview of a new song inspired by her father. A first listen to the track was shared on December 18 by Florida-based morning radio host Bubba the Love Sponge.
Titled “Wanna Go Back,” the song reflects on the difficult and emotional dynamic between Brooke and her father. As the track plays, photos and home videos of the two over the years appear, underscoring the raw emotion behind the lyrics:
“I don’t wanna go back / ’Cause what you did to me / Daddy, you layin’ there / Made a fool outta me
I don’t wanna go back / ’Cause you were my world / And I was your girl / But that meant nothing”
The response to the song preview was immediate and supportive, with listeners flooding the comments section with messages of empathy and encouragement. Many shared how deeply the lyrics resonated with their own experiences of loss.
As of now, “Wanna Go Back” has not yet received an official release date.
Through music, Brooke Hogan is offering a deeply personal reflection—one that captures grief, love, and unresolved emotion—while honoring the complex legacy of her father, a man known to the world as a legend, but to her simply as Dad.
