Carrie Underwood Stuns Her Nashville Church With an Unannounced Christmas Performance That Left the Crowd Breathless

    Simply stunning.

This weekend, Carrie Underwood quietly slipped into her home church’s annual Christmas program and surprised everyone by taking the stage to perform “O Holy Night” and “All Is Well.”

She did the same thing at Rolling Hills Community Church last year, showing up unannounced, and once again the congregation had no idea she would be part of the event. Underwood has always been open about her faith, so it’s not unusual for her to participate in worship or drop in for moments like this — but it never fails to take people’s breath away.

Her Christmas record My Gift, released in 2020, remains one of the strongest holiday albums in modern country music. Produced by Greg Wells, it blends timeless carols with original songs and features guest appearances from John Legend on “Hallelujah,” plus a charming duet with her eldest son, Isaiah, on “The Little Drummer Boy.”

Even for listeners who don’t typically enjoy Christmas albums, My Gift stands out for its warmth, elegance, and incredible vocal performances.

And at the church concert, Carrie sounded every bit as powerful as fans expect. She’s widely regarded as one of the finest vocalists in country music — if not the best — and hearing her deliver these songs in a church setting must have been unforgettable.

Here she is performing “O Holy Night”:

She also sang “All Is Well,” included on the deluxe edition of My Gift:

Carrie has spoken before about how meaningful it was to include Isaiah on the album:

“‘Little Drummer Boy’ is such a core part of My Gift — it inspired the album’s title. I wanted something special for it, and Isaiah loves to sing. That’s just who he is. He’ll make something and say, ‘Didn’t I do a good job? Are you proud of me?’ His sweet voice just felt perfect for it. No matter what, I’ll treasure this forever.”

Now that her kids are older, those moments are surely even more precious. And the entire album has aged beautifully — easily one of the standout country Christmas releases of the last decade.
