Ella Langley Shares the Story Behind Her Collaboration With HARDY on “Never Met Anyone Like You”
Rising country star Ella Langley recently teamed up with HARDY for the fiery duet “Never Met Anyone Like You,” a track that flips expectations — starting as a heartfelt love song before delivering a sharp lyrical twist aimed at the song’s subject. During a live show following its release, Langley shared how the collaboration came to be, calling it an absolute “dream come true.”
From Fan to Collaborator
Langley told the crowd she had been a HARDY fan long before moving to Nashville, often covering his song “Boots” during her early four-hour bar gigs. After landing her publishing deal, she resisted reaching out to him directly:
“I told myself, ‘Don’t ask him to write. I want him to come in wanting to do it.’ It took four years.”
That patience paid off. HARDY eventually invited her to join his Quit!! Tour, where the two developed a close friendship.
“That tour was bada—,” Langley said with a laugh. “After the tour, he gave me this Gibson guitar — the one I play now. It took him a year to get it to me, but it was worth it.”
Writing “Never Met Anyone Like You”
Their long-awaited writing session finally came together — almost by chance. HARDY had a date on the books that Langley didn’t know about, but she quickly rearranged her schedule:
“I said, ‘I’ll cancel everything. I got to.’”
The session, which also included Jordan Schmidt, led to the creation of “Never Met Anyone Like You.”
“HARDY said, ‘I want to write this song where it means one thing the whole time — and at the very end, it means the complete opposite,’” Langley recalled. “And I was like, ‘Sick, I can’t wait to do math today.’ It was one of the coolest writes ever — and I got to write it on the guitar he gave me.”

While co-hosting Country Countdown USA in September, HARDY praised Langley’s artistry and hinted at their upcoming release.
“I love what she’s doing. I’ve been writing with her, and she’s focused on her sound,” he said. “A song we wrote recently is really cool, it’s different, and it fits her thing. I can’t wait to see how much she grows.”
What’s Next for Ella Langley
Langley has continued building momentum, most recently dropping “Choosin’ Texas.” While fans are eager for a full album, she told Katie & Company that her debut record won’t arrive until 2026.
“I think there’s something to be said for taking your time and making a record that lasts,” she explained. “I’m trying to do what feels right to me — not what anyone else has done.”
Between her powerhouse vocals, storytelling, and fearless attitude, Ella Langley’s partnership with HARDY marks just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be a defining chapter in her career.
