Jelly Roll Promises a “Bold Swing” on His Next Album
Jelly Roll is ready to surprise his fans once again. Following the massive success of his 2024 album Beautifully Broken — which featured chart-topping hits like “I Am Not Okay” and “Heart of Stone” — the multi-genre artist has revealed that his next project will take an even bigger creative leap.
During a recent appearance on Miles Adcox’s Human School Podcast, the Tennessee native opened up about his mindset heading into the new album, describing it as a fearless next chapter in his ever-evolving sound.
“Always have been bold when it was time to be bold musically, I thought, and it’s time to be bold,” Jelly Roll said.
A New Era in the Making
While still in the early stages of production, Jelly Roll’s next record will mark his 11th studio album — a career milestone that reflects a journey spanning rap, rock, and country. After making his country debut with 2023’s Whitsitt Chapel, the “Save Me” singer hinted that this new project will once again defy genre expectations.
Reflecting on his history of taking musical risks, he compared the feeling to when he first recorded “Save Me”:
“If you listen to my catalog, it was a wild swing. If you were currently a Jelly Roll fan, that was a crazy curveball for me to throw. Five years later, if you are currently a Jelly Roll fan, I said, ‘Throw y’all a curveball.’”
Podcast host Miles Adcox admitted he initially found Jelly Roll’s new concept surprising — but ultimately fitting.
“I was like, of course, that makes all the sense in the world,” Adcox told him.
“I’m Taking Us on a Ride”
With an ever-growing fanbase that spans genres and generations, Jelly Roll acknowledged that his upcoming pivot could catch some listeners off guard — but he’s confident they’ll stay with him.
“I hope they follow me because I’m taking us on a ride,” he said. “Always have been bold when it was time to be bold musically, I thought, and it’s time to be bold.”
From Survival to Thriving
Adcox praised Jelly Roll’s evolution not just as an artist but as a person, noting that his music seems to reflect his current emotional growth.
“There’s a whole other gear of where you go from survival to thriving, and I’m seeing you start to thrive,” Adcox said.
Jelly agreed, adding that his art will naturally reflect where he is in life now.
“I think the art will reflect it,” he said. “The music’s always met me where I was.”
A Grounded, Grateful Perspective
Jelly Roll shared that it’s been refreshing to focus on creative exploration without the pressure of heavy promotion or touring. He currently has only a few remaining 2025 performances on his calendar, including sets at Strummingbird Festival and Corona Capital Festival, allowing him the space to write and reflect.
“I’m in a great place in life,” he told Adcox. “We need a change in humanity anyways… I just want to create more conversations like we’re having in general. Human to human conversations. Like real ones. What keeps you up at night? What scares you? Are you being a good husband? Are you being a good father?”
Looking Ahead
As he continues to write and record, Jelly Roll’s next album is shaping up to be one of his most ambitious yet — a “bold swing” that promises to blend honesty, vulnerability, and fearless experimentation.
And if history is any indication, fans can expect something heartfelt, powerful, and unlike anything else in country music right now.
