Diane Keaton’s Son Duke Seen Mourning Outside Her LA Home Following Her Death

    A Quiet Farewell

Diane Keaton’s 25-year-old son Duke was seen for the first time since the Oscar-winning actress’s passing, leaving her Los Angeles home on Sunday. Dressed entirely in black, Duke looked somber as he mourned the loss of his mother — the Hollywood icon who adopted him as a baby in 2001.

In a subtle tribute, he wore two cross necklaces, a style long associated with Keaton’s signature eccentric fashion. The actress, known for her layered jewelry, menswear-inspired outfits, and timeless hats, often made the simple cross a centerpiece of her look.

    A Family Built by Love

Keaton, who never married, adopted two children later in life — daughter Dexter, now 29, and son Duke, born and raised in Los Angeles. In a 2007 interview with People, Keaton described her children as “healthy, normal, and uninterested in Hollywood,” adding, “They have no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy.”

Despite her fame, she built a private, close-knit home life focused on family rather than Hollywood glamour.

A Heartbreaking Scene in Los Angeles

The Annie Hall star was taken to a local hospital by ambulance around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, following a 911 call reporting a “person down” at her residence in Sullivan Canyon, according to TMZ. Friends and colleagues quickly began to arrive at her $29-million estate to pay their respects.

Actress Sarah Paulson was photographed visiting the home on Sunday — her second visit in two days — while Ben Affleck’s SUV was also seen arriving at the property.

    A Legacy Beyond the Screen

Condolences have poured in from across Hollywood, including messages from Leonardo DiCaprio, Jane Fonda, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Viola Davis, Bette Midler, Francis Ford Coppola, and Rita Wilson.

Songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, who penned Keaton’s debut single “First Christmas,” revealed she had seen the actress just weeks before her passing. “She was very thin,” Sager told People. “She had lost so much weight…I was stunned by how frail she looked.”

Her Final Days and Screen Moments

Keaton’s final Instagram post — shared on April 11 — showed her smiling beside her beloved golden retriever Reggie for National Pet Day. It captured her warmth and love for life even in her final months.

Her last public appearance was in April 2024 at a Thom Browne dinner at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. Later that year, she appeared in her final film, Summer Camp (2024), alongside Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard.

    A Storied Career

Over five decades, Diane Keaton redefined film and fashion. She rose to fame as Kay Adams in The Godfather trilogy (1972–1990), and her portrayal of Annie Hall in Woody Allen’s 1977 classic earned her an Academy Award.

She went on to star in The First Wives Club (1996), Something’s Gotta Give (2003), and Baby Boom (1987), often working with filmmaker Nancy Meyers on stories celebrating independent, complex women.

Keaton also found success as a winemaker, author, and real-estate designer, leaving behind an estimated $100 million estate — and an unmatched legacy of artistry, humor, and authenticity.

    Remembering a Hollywood Original

Known for her intelligence, wit, and individuality, Diane Keaton stood apart from Hollywood convention. She never married but filled her life with creativity, friendship, and family.

Her son’s quiet tribute — those two simple crosses — was more than fashion. It was a reflection of her spirit: elegant, unconventional, and deeply human.
