John Foster Stuns With Two Disney Classics During American Idol Top 5 Round

On Monday night’s American Idol Top 5 episode, the competition reached new heights as the remaining contestants each performed two beloved songs from Disney films. With the finale just around the corner, the pressure was on—and 18-year-old country standout John Foster rose to the occasion.

Known for his Southern charm and smooth, signature sound, Foster stepped outside his comfort zone to tackle “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book and “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie. While the whimsical tunes were a stylistic departure from his usual material, Foster once again proved his versatility and artistry, making both songs feel uniquely his own.

    Foster’s Disney Journey Continues

The previous night, during the Top 7 episode, Foster paid tribute to his Louisiana roots with “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog. His performance, filled with soul and authenticity, earned widespread praise from the judges.

“It’s like no matter what you do, John Foster is John Foster,” said Carrie Underwood. “Whatever genre, you brought it to you. You dressed like you. You sound like you.”

Luke Bryan echoed the sentiment, saying Foster’s staying power comes down to “charisma, charisma, charisma.”

Top 5 Performances Win Judges Over Again

Monday night’s performances only deepened the judges’ admiration. Lionel Richie applauded Foster’s voice for its uniqueness and emotional clarity:

“I am totally in love with the timbre of your voice. It’s instant identity. The difference between a singer and a stylist is that I know your voice in three notes—and you have that.”

Carrie Underwood went a step further, suggesting that Foster could take it all the way:

“If you ain’t real careful, you might win this whole thing.”

A Fan Favorite with a Distinct Sound

Throughout Season 23, John Foster has consistently impressed with his ability to connect across genres while staying true to himself. Whether singing a heartfelt ballad or a playful Disney tune, he brings warmth, authenticity, and undeniable talent to the stage.

With the finale just a week away and America casting its votes, Foster’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
