Ella Langley shared the journey behind her hit song “You Look Like You Love Me” during the 2024 Country Radio Seminar. The song came to life unexpectedly, beginning with a humorous remark she made in a songwriting session with Aaron Ratiere. Despite initially feeling uninspired, Langley’s witty comment sparked the creation of the song. As she recalled, after being asked about her relationship life, she joked, “if they look like they love me, I gotta get out of there.” This quip became the foundation for the song, and it quickly turned into a collaboration.

The writing process was casual and fun, with Langley and Ratiere adding multiple verses. At first, Langley thought the song would only be a lighthearted tune for private enjoyment, but it eventually became much more. The turning point came when Langley joined Riley Green on tour, where she had the idea to bring him in for the second verse. Green rewrote it from his own perspective, and together they crafted the song that became a hit.

Langley reflected on how organic and unexpected the success of the song was, calling it one of the most natural experiences in her career. Since the release of “You Look Like You Love Me,” Langley’s career has gained significant momentum. She released her debut album hungover, which received praise, and has been headlining shows across the U.S.

She also shared how the support of other women in the country music scene, including Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson, has been instrumental in her journey. Langley expressed gratitude for the mentorship she has received and now, as she continues to rise in the industry, she hopes to pass on the knowledge she’s gained.
