During a memorial service that was conducted for William Garner, the father of Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck and his ex-wife’s child, Seraphina Rose Affleck, who is now known as Fin, spoke in public for the first time using their new name and they/them pronouns. Fin is now 15 years old. Christ Church United Methodist Church in Charleston, West Virginia was the location of the emotionally charged event that took place on April 6th.
At the time when they were addressing the crowd, Fin appeared calm and collected while dressed in a sober black suit and tie. Fin radiated a calm strength that reverberated throughout the chapel that was characterized by their hair being fashioned in a buzzcut. This particular public recognition of their identification represents a significant turning point in Fin’s history.
“Hello, my name is Fin Affleck,” stated Fin Affleck as they introduced themselves in front of those who were physically present as well as the hundreds of people who were watching the event via live stream on Facebook.
Through the use of the Book of Proverbs, Fin shared a verse that held a special meaning for their grandfather, who had passed away. Fin repeated the following verse from Chapter 16 verse 8: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice.”
As Fin and his siblings, Violet and Samuel, as well as their cousins, stood together to pay tribute to their grandfather’s memories, Fin discovered that togetherness provided him with inspiration and strength. When they were all together, they took turns reading from the Book of Proverbs and providing passionate remarks on the life and legacy of their cherished patriarch.
