In the year 1978, the well-known political commentator Lou Dobbs passed away. He was 78 years old. Dobbs was a controversial character, mainly due to the comments he made against Barack Obama. He was known for his tenure with several news organizations, including CNN and Fox News.
Dobbs was recognized as “an incredible talent” and a “friend and truly amazing reporter, journalist, and artist” by former President Donald Trump in a statement of sorrow that he posted on Truth Social. “Lou was one of a kind, and he had a deep love for our country,” Trump concluded.
Beginning his career at KBLU radio in Arizona, Dobbs transitioned to television in the middle of the 1970s and joined NBC’s King-TV in Seattle. Since then, he has been working in television. In 1980, he was one of the first reporters to work for CNN and at the time, he hosted the business news program Moneyline.
The criticism that Dobbs experienced as a result of his coverage of illegal immigration led to his departure from CNN in 2009. It was in 2010 when he first began anchoring “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Fox Business, and he continued to do so until the show was canceled in 2021.
