In 1981, Melissa Sue Anderson made the move from being a prairie girl to a slasher film star with the film Happy Birthday to Me. This occurred after she left the television show Little House on the Prairie. An attempt was made by the former child actor to make a significant departure from her legendary character as Mary Ingalls, which she had played for seven seasons for a period of time.

“I was a dull and oblivious individual… As she recalls on her time spent as Mary, the eldest daughter of Charles and Caroline Ingalls, the woman who is now 62 years old says, “I couldn’t take it anymore.” Mary was the girl with blonde hair. Fans were enthralled by the trip that her character took, but Anderson felt that she was ready to move on.

One of the most well-liked dramas on television, Little House on the Prairie, was a show that documented the lives of the Ingalls family during the course of the 1870s. The series featured renowned performers such as Jason Bateman and Shannen Doherty, while Michael Landon played the role of Charles Ingalls. Melissa Gilbert played Laura, and the series also debuted these actors. Before getting her breakthrough role, Anderson had previously starred on other television shows, including Bewitched and The Brady Bunch. She joined the show when she was just 11 years old.

As soon as she left Walnut Grove, Anderson began working on a wide variety of productions, which demonstrated her versatility as an actor. Throughout her career, audiences have been captivated by her progression, from her days on the prairie to her journey into the world of thrillers. Would you like to know what she has been doing since then? Continue to read!
